Pan's Labyrinth

If you haven't yet seen it, you should! Pan's Labyrinth is a wonderful and touching fairytale fantasy movie from 2006, written and directed Guillermo del Toro. It takes place around the post civil war in Spain, 1944. We meet Ofelia, a young girl who has a big love for fairytales. She moves to the countryside with her pregnant mom. To her sadistic stepfather, a spanish army officer and the father of the unborn child.

On the road to her stepfather, she find an insect. A big stick bug, which she's convinced is a fairy.. The fairy follows her to her new home. An old mill house in the forest, which is also the headquarters of the army and the captain. There is battles going on with the local gerilja, right up the mountain sides and the in the forest outside the area of the headquarters. But there's darker sides to the forest, than what you find on the battle field..

With the help of the fairy, Ofelia discovers an old, eerie looking labyrinth, on the premises of the old mill house. It takes her far down under ground, where she meets a faun.. He tells her she's the reborn princess Moanna of the underground world, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again.

An other example of a fantastic short film and great animation!! This time by the french, The Pumpkin Factory. I totally love the humour and the morale of the story.. And it's something about how that begger shakes his cup, all while the flies buzz around his head:)

What do you think?

Alma

A wonderful, little, animated short film! A small girl gets drawn to a spooky looking doll store, that she skips by in the snow.. I love how the whole fasade of the store looks like the face of a monster. Watch to see what happends;)

The movie is written and directed by Rodrigo Blaas. Produced by Cecilie Hokes.

Forbidden Images From the Past..

This is a short film I found on Youtube the other day. It's made of cuts from old movies, parts which were concidered tabu back in the days... All of the clips is found in the same movie theatre, somewhere in Pennsylvania. It's allmost like a peephole into the past.. Interesting to see how much of the woman body that were considered sexual and forbidden, compared to todays society were the celebreties are trying to overdo each other on each apparance, letting little to the imagination.. I'm not sure if it was better back then, but I do think it's more beautiful with subtle hints, than just laying it all on the plate... Anyhow, enjoy this beautiful, mind tumbler of a short film and transition into the past!

My Christmas

I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas!!! If it's celebrated on your own, or with your loved ones and the traditions that you have for the time of the year that makes it Christmas to you!! <3

The day today started with Three Wishes For Cinderella, a nice bacon breakfast and cinnamon coffee with my love.. We will be heading over to my parents for the Christmas dinner with the family later on. Mom's Christmas cakes and dad's marsipan... Christmas carols playing on the old LP player, while we sit around and talk. A decorated Christmas tree with presents underneath... The smell of pine tree and Christmas incense in the house, blending in with the wonderful smell of mom's turkey cooking in the oven. Makes it Christmas to me:)

Here's a few things that makes my Christmas eve complete...

The most wonderful, sweet and romantic story ever made about Cinderella! No Christmas without it...

Disney's Christmas show

A decorated Christmas tree, with my old angels still hanging on the branches...

Yule Holiday

My Christmas holiday started today, and oh it feels good.. Getting to sleep in, late breakfast with my love, coffee and surfing the great web... I'll be heading out to buy Christmas gifts and a small Christmas trea bush in just a bit, which should set the Christmas mood here! Hopefully I'll get my butt up to the attic for the Christmas decoration, it's so cold up there I really rather not.. For that reason I've been prosponing it as long as I could, but with only a few days left and Christmas eve right around the corner. Guess I better get it done. At least if I want it all Christmassy and cozy in here, so I can surprise my sweetheart when he gets home from work tonight. Just a little surfing and coffee more....;)

The video below is a clip from one of my favourite Christmas movies... So sad and wonderful!! Still bring tears to my eyes when I watch it now..

The Kingdom Of Witches

Not exactly Christmas, but what the heck! A lovely video I stumbled over right before Halloween, that I never came around to share with you guys before now.. I really love the simple silouette effects, the innocent musicbox music and the fairytale like story line!
