The Fountain

Valentines at the office was nice, but twice as nice when we got home and could cuddle up with a movie. Being the day of love and all, we wanted something romantic to watch.. That's when we accidentially stumbled over this amazing movie!

My husbands reaction, when I said I was going to do a post about it was; How, it's like trying to describe someones acid trip! And I have to agree, it's big questions and hard to grasp around. It moves around in time and space, and has plenty of metaphors. But in a good way, I would say. It raises some important questions about life. I say the movie is well worth the watch, just be ready for a spaced out wonderland!

As we watched, a beautiful, surreal, sad story about spirituality, love, life and death unwrapped.. We see one mans struggle, Tommy (Hugh Jackman) to save his wife Izzi (Rachel Weisz) from dying of cancer. Being blinded by love and sorrow, drivven allmost to madness, trying to find a cure from a tree sample from the South American jungle. In the jungle we follow a young conquistador, Tomas's search for the tree of life, the first tree from the garden of Eve. Risking everything in the search for it, to save Spain and the queen. To become the new Adam and Eve, and to live forever. Also we are taken into space, where we see the space traveller Tom. Inside a big bubble, with a dying tree that is human. The tree is his love. We see how he's taking samples of the tree and trying to keep her alive, to find a cure..

She on the other hand is trying to let him know, it's ok to let go. She's in peace with the thought of dying. She tries to tell her husband that mortality is a natural part of life, that shouldn't be taken away. Instead of our constant search for imortality and living forever through modern medicine and sience. How we in a way do live forever, in everything around us. And how she can still be with him, if he only believes it too.

After all, the possibility of dying. That every day and moment could be your last one, gives life that extra spark! What would life be without death? Not that I wish to die, but I think it would be quite boring and overpopulated.. What do you think? What would happend if we were made imortal??

Forbidden Images From the Past..

This is a short film I found on Youtube the other day. It's made of cuts from old movies, parts which were concidered tabu back in the days... All of the clips is found in the same movie theatre, somewhere in Pennsylvania. It's allmost like a peephole into the past.. Interesting to see how much of the woman body that were considered sexual and forbidden, compared to todays society were the celebreties are trying to overdo each other on each apparance, letting little to the imagination.. I'm not sure if it was better back then, but I do think it's more beautiful with subtle hints, than just laying it all on the plate... Anyhow, enjoy this beautiful, mind tumbler of a short film and transition into the past!

Peg Boggs: Why are you hiding back there? You don't have to hide from me - I'm Peg Boggs, your local Avon representative and I'm as harmless as cherry pie...
Peg Boggs: Oh - I can see that I've disturbed you. I'll just be going now...
Edward: Don't go.
Peg Boggs: (sees his scissor hands) Oh, my. What happened to you?
Edward: I'm not finished.

Kim: You see, before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now... I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it..

Scary Mary's Dazzling Undead Dude Poll

A poll for the scary guys out there.. Give a vote to your favourite undead dudes or monsters!! The list grew totally outta proportion when I was working with it and I know I would have problems with only choosing one favourite myself. I also know they're not all entirely undead, but what the heck! I think they're monsterous enough, so I didn't have the heart to leave them out;) Solution to the "problem";  I enabled multiple answers! I've tried to flavour it up with one for every taste, but if there's someone special that I forgot.. Leave me a scream and I'll add him too! Polls close at the end of the month, 30.11. Till then, enjoy some photos of the dazzling undead dudes;)

The Walking Dead

A show based on the popular comic book series by Robert Kirkman. And of course, it had it's premier on Halloween! The story is about the officer Rick Grimes, from a small town in Georgia. He wakes up on the hospital, after being gunned down in the line of duty.. The flowers next to his bed is dead, there's no nurses to ring on.. As he makes his way out of the hospital bed and out to the corridor, a scene of total chaos, blood trails, dead , severed bodies and signs of battle meets him.. Soon he find himself in a world which has been turned upside down and into a living nightmare! The town people has been turned into Zombies, with only one thing on their mind.. Human flesh! Just to make the nightmare complete, he makes his way home, where he find his home empty and abandoned. There's no signs of his family. He ventures out to try to find his wife and boy, into the hostile new world which lays ahead...

I finally got to see the first episode of The Walking Dead this week, a few days later than the premier.. It was well worth the wait, it didn't disappoint and lived up to my expectations! It really kept me on edge the whole time and soon found myself hiding behind my fingers, screaming up and telling Rick to walk the other way and so on.. A bit engaged I guess you can say;) Hahha Now I can't wait for the rest to come! When I spotted a review and the trailer of it on IMDb, a few weeks before Halloween, I knew I had to see it. Just enough gore and zombies to make a great show;) Hopefully the rest of the episodes is as good as the first one...

Seasonal horror...

We had a gory movie night yesterday with the rather disturbing Rob Zombie movie House Of 1000 Corpses and a large bowl of popcorn. No more nightmares, strangly enough.. Maybe I'm adjusting to my new surroundings? Or maybe my surroundings just seemed some what "normal" after the disturbing images in the movie. Never the less, a great movie to warm up for Halloween with;) It was my beloved husband that introduced me to it, I can't believe that I've missed out on this movie! Horrifying story, twisted and disturbing!! I really loved the wicked dollheads, I'm thinking how easy it would be to make and how great they would be for any disturbing dsiplay.. Also thought that the murder ride was totally rad.. hahhah A little harder to copy though. Maybe I should get myself a haunted house;) Moooohahahah

Also we watched Trick 'r Treat a couple of weeks ago, an other great Halloween story! I love the little Halloween spirit Sam. The combination of the babysuit and the horrible creature that he is makes him all the more scary! It was after watching this movie we decided to make a little Trick r' Treater Sam of our own this Halloween. With a twist, our Sam will have a wicked clown mask instead of the mask he is wearing in the movie. We'll have him by the coats, greeting the guests as they come in... With a bloody trick or treat bag in one hand and a knife in the other:) Cute!
