Friday we had a house warming party at work, as we just moved to a new location.. The best part of the evening was the house band. As I soon discovered, we have some really good musicians at work! They rocked the roof off the office, like they've never done anything else. This is people that normally shuffle paper around their desk. Well, I guess it helps that they all play in a band in the spare time.. But it's not like they're living off it. It's wonderful to discover this creativity and get to know my colleagues in a different way than I usually see them. To see that there's allways new things to learn about people you thought you knew.. I'm not sure if it's me that needs to listen better, or maybe I didn't dig deep enough in the conversations. Spite of that we see each other every day and spend most of our awake time during a week at work. Some people even spend more time with their colleagues than their family, but when it boils down to it, how much do we really know about each other?
How well do you think you know your colleagues?

Scary Flexible Sisters
A wonderful, sweet and crazy video clip from the 1944 movie "Broadway Rhythm". It starts out rather inocent and like any other 1940's movie tune, but hang in there, things will get veird.. And veirder. It's jaw dropping how the Ross Sisters Aggie, Maggie and Elmira can bend and twist their bodies. All in very mysterious ways, while they sing off course. If I only knew half of it, I would probably be world champion in yoga..
Part from how scary flexible this young girls are, the song has been stuck on my mind ever since I found it around Christmas.. Thought it was by time I pass it on;)

Hoot Hooooot...
Believe me, I would be the first one to understand why someone would want an owl of their very own.. But the thought of keeping these beautiful and majestic birds, trapped in little cages for selfish reasons, is just horrible and more cruel than I can put into words! They should be out there, flying free, hunting mice and whatever else an owl does.. Shame on you!! I'll keep my admiration on a distance and leave them to mother nature, where they belong and maybe buy myself an owl item or two;)
Here's a few owl items that I have collected in my favourites on Etsy over the last few months... Most of them is still available in the stores they're from:)

All items found on wonderful Etsy, listed from right: 1. New Moon Print 2. Owl Flask 3. Mary 5th Grade Altered Vintage Plate 4. Owl Cup 5. Great Horned Owl Mask 6. Pillow Fight Party Time Grocery Tote 7. Whoolie's Pink Valentine Fine Art Photo 8. Giant Barn Owl Keyring 9. Vintage Owl Salt & Pepper Shakers

The God of Death..
The Aztecs and Mayans considered the owl a symbol of death and destruction, and the Aztec god of death was often pictured as an owl.. I can understand why the superstitious indians believed that the owl had these powers, as it's a creature thats mainly hunting at night. With it's yellow, piercing eyes and the spooky hoot, it must have sent a chill down their spine out there in the rain forest. Though there's other creatures in the rain forest I would have found more frightening myself.. In Mexico they have an old saying that they still use "When the owl cries, the Indian dies"...
It's interesting how the same beliefs is found among the Ho-Chunk, a Native American tribe from Wisconsin, USA. It seems that indian cultures all over the world has much of the same beliefs and traditions, so maybe not so veird after all.. They have always had a very different outlook and closer connection to mother nature than what the westernes had..

While the indians considered the owl as something that brings or stand for evil, in the western culture people has for a long time associated owls with wisdom. This goes as far back as to the ancient greeks, where the godess of wisdom, Athena had the owl as a symbol.
I have to say that for me the owl is a magnificant creature and one of my favourite animals, or birds I guess I should say.. If they beholds great wisdom or not, I don't know. But they sure look smarter than an average sparrow and way cooler the way they can turn their heads around;) I lean towards favouring the ancient greek belief, though I find the whole god of death thing very fascinating.. But me picturing the owl as a wise old man, is probably just a sign of Disneys brainwash since my early years lol..
This is one of my favourite videos on youtube.. I never get tiered of looking at the beautiful motions of the feathers, as it's coming in for landing and the powerful look of the eyes. Such an amazing creature!!
How do you picture the owl? As a god of death, or a wise old man like I do?;) What is your favourite creature?

Sunday Crafting
Part from a beautiful walk in the snow, Sunday was also spent by my work desk. I finally had some time to sit down with my crafts, it's been my bad conscience for a while now.. But with needle and thread and bent over tiny jewelery parts, I was working on my jewelery and hairpieces all evening. I was able to get through quite a bit and it's all starting to take form. Very satisfying to see that my "baby" growing and getting some flesh on my ideas. As I'm working new ideas spring to my mind, it feels good to be using my imagination.. It feel like it's what I'm supposed to do. I mean use the vivid imagination which I was born with and do something creative with it...
Here's a little taste of what I've been working on.. I'm dying to show off my jewelery designs, but I think it's better to keep it a little secret till the shop and everything is getting more ready;)

Red, Red Wine...
Relaxing home with a well deserved bottle of red wine tonight. The realization of being back to work hit me like a block of bricks! But it's seriously hard to be back after my two weeks of Christmas holiday and relaxation. Should think it would get easier, not harder. Obviously not.. Topped it with getting up in the middle of the night to go to work today, at least that's what it felt like.. 5:30 am has never been morning to me! I woke up at least 4 times during the night, wondering if the alarm had already went off. Some veird dreams and little sleep later I dragged myself out of bed and into the shower. Before I headed out in the snowy morning...
It's been snowing constantly for several days now, leaving a fluffy cover of white snow over the city. Getting to work starts to feel more like an expedition on the north pole. Part from fighting through the snow, it's the most beautiful scenery.. Especially in the evening. The lights is casting stunning shades in pink, violet and blue. With the black outlines of the trees against a dark blue sky.. While the street lights creating yellow islands in the snow. Grey, puffy clouds and a white moon is floating around far up there. I have wanted to get out there and shoot it all week, but been to lazy to do so.. But you know, there's always a day tomorrow;)

Fun with Crayons
A typical evening in the nest.. My love giving me some temporary color, while I'm entertaining myself online lol. Black pen and yup, crayons! I allmost held my leg out the shower not to ruin it this morning. No real tattoo for me so far, keeping my virgin skin. As I say, it's my statement.. Hmmm and what would I get if I actually would get one? Would probably change my mind in a few years, but maybe that's the beauty of it..?! Have to say I'm extremely fascinated by tattoos though, it's a very beautiful form of art.. I'm sure my man appreciate the fact that I do, with all the artwork that he has spread all over his body;) Muuuhahahaha

Forbidden Images From the Past..
This is a short film I found on Youtube the other day. It's made of cuts from old movies, parts which were concidered tabu back in the days... All of the clips is found in the same movie theatre, somewhere in Pennsylvania. It's allmost like a peephole into the past.. Interesting to see how much of the woman body that were considered sexual and forbidden, compared to todays society were the celebreties are trying to overdo each other on each apparance, letting little to the imagination.. I'm not sure if it was better back then, but I do think it's more beautiful with subtle hints, than just laying it all on the plate... Anyhow, enjoy this beautiful, mind tumbler of a short film and transition into the past!

Last Hours of The Year
We had a really good time with Lindy and her man, before we headed down town to Caven and the concert. Lindy's yummi, swedish food and her homemade tiramisu for dessert. That woman can cook, what a housewife! I'll sure be there next year, with bells on:) We stumbled out in the cold at midnight, shot our firework, drank our champagne and had an amazing view over the firework in town!!
Concert was great, lots of friends and people we know showed up. Cheap beer, sparkling wine and a flooded toilett all contributed to a wet evening! I tried to pull out some plumber skills from my sleeve, but had to back off as I was standing in a pool of water with my nice, satin shoes and my new, red dress.. Not exactly dressed to stand with my head down some toilett! Haha
As predicted we didn't stumble in the door before early morning;) I was still full of energy from the evening and wasn't ready for bed at all.. My man crawled up in one corner of the bed, while I ended up watching something I don't remember what was.. Probably some show on Travel Channel, since I tend to watch it when I've been drinking.. Soothing for the soul and just enough excitement before bedtime when the world is moving! The day after a night out, I like watching it for different reasons. It's just rolling on like tidewave, no rappid movements that causes dizziness.. Soooothing! Hmmm and also I get to see the world while I'm laying flat out in the sofa, feeling sorry for myself.. That way the day isn't a total waste, I've been somewhere;)
Music playing on the vintage LP player, with that cozy, old, crispy sound... Oh, I want one of those!
Posing in my new Haunted Housewife dress..
Lindy's delicious tiramisu..
Happy jolly with silly hat!
One piece of a wonder woman;)
Midnight..
More fancy hats..
Miss T and the guys:)
Those late hours..
