My Closet Skeletons

Those who know me, know I'm a huge sucker for high heels and stilettos.. So this shouldn't come as any surprise! I did a major clean up in my shoe closet the other day. It has been allmost impossible to close the door for a while and I knew I probably had shoes burried in there that I would never use again.. Time to dig'em out and get rid of them, no point keeping stuff I don't use.

Oh boy, did I have shoes! My prescious kept piling up, we were jumping over a growing mountain of shoes.. Luckely my man loves me, because this looked a bit insane. When they were all out of the dark, I counted 41 pairs of high heels! I ended up keeping 32 of them.. 8 of them which I got on my first trip to the US, 7 which I got during the last year and 4 that belonged to my beloved grandmother. With the 13 that's left, I declare myself insane in the moment of action!

Have you had a peek in your shoe closet lately? No telling what lost riches is lurking in the dark, dusty corners of the closet.. Take it from a shoeholic;)

Lovely Vintage Finds from Copenhagen

Some beautiful dresses and accessories that I picked up on our trip to Copenhagen.. I was lucky enough to stumble in when they had their sale on Kitsch Bitch! A gem of a vintage store, that lays on Læderstræde 30. A street that runs right along Strøget, the most well known shopping street in the down town area. So it should be really easy to find, even if it's your first time in town.. The store is crammed with all sorts of vintage goodies and I absolutely recommend a visit if you're in town! I know I'll most certainly be back for more treasures, next time I AM in town:)

Dreamcoat

Winter is soon over, but after searching all winter I finally found the perfect winter coat! There it was, on Etsy of course. I love the full skirt, the vintage look and the cute bowtie detail in front.. *Sigh* Must have! It's a bit on the expensive side, but I think it's all worth it as it's tailored and seems to be good quality, which will last for many winters more.

The designer offers some slight changes on the coat, if desired. Like a different color on the lining of the coat, with a hood, without the bowtie, or a single row of buttons instead of double buttoned etc.. I love it the way it is, though I'm thinking a hood might be nice for those cold winter days.

The designer behind this wonderful coat is Tatyana Merenyuk, a talented designer originally from Kiev in Ukraine, now living in New York.. It seems that a lot of her inspiration comes from her childhood in Ukraine.. "From an early age she had a taste for dress up and fairytales that gave her quite the imagination", "Her mother would always dress her up in dresses that she made and pass them down from her sister, but no matter what she was wearing she always looked like a little doll".. Which you can tell on her designs today. She has some amazing fairytale like dresses, that I can only dream about wearing one day...

The Perfect Vintage Dress

I've been trying to find THE vintage dress for some time now, but allways find that they are way to tiny for me. Seems like the girls were just so much smaller back then.. It's the same with a lot of the vintage clothes out there. Everything cute, with a waist and arms.. Leaving me to feel like Big Foot or a tall warrior amazone, desperately wanting to fit into a childs dress at the best:/

I don't have a 25" waist and will never get it, also there's no choice starving myself for it. I don't want to look like a walking skeleton, even if it means that I can wear pretty dresses. Not a bad word about skeltons though, I love skeltons! Where's is a good, old, deasant, Alice shrink tonic when a gal needs it?

But there is hope, even for tall girls like me.. Some time ago I came across a shop on Ebay, Dressit which can tailor any dress for you. All you need is a photo of it. The best part is that it doesn't cost more than what a nice dress would cost if you buy it in a regular store!

The seller is top rated on Ebay. After reading the customer reviews, I also feel confident that they know what they are doing and that they deliver quality dresses. They have plenty of satisfied customers to show to, which should make it pretty safe to order from them in my oppinion. There's allways a risk by ordering online, but I think it's well worth it as I can get something I wouldn't be able to get otherwise!

What is you experience with vintage clothes? Have you found that perfect vintage dress yet??

Here's some gorgeous vintage dresses from my wish list, that I'll sadly never fit into, but to drool over! Most of them from the fabelous Etsy store, Timeless Vixen. A store packed with beautiful vintage dresses. And also from Thirteen Bees Vintage:

Hair & Tears

Last Friday I ventured out in the cold winter evening with my man. After being cooped up at home, with a bad cold for a couple of days I was pretty damn bored.. A couple of friends is students at maybe the hippest hair dresser school in Norway, Adam & Eva. They had one week to throw together a hair show with models, clothes, music yo name it and no budget! Our good friend Miss Lindy Lee was rocking the catwalk as one of the hair models, we couldn't miss out..

One part of the show was 50's style, the other was futuristic. With the very suiting name "Back To The Future". And O, I don't regret I pulled my butt out in the cold. It was awsome and a real eye candy! They did a tremendous job pulling it off, I'm impressed!! Lindy Lee was lovely in her amazing hairdo and leopard dress. I shot photos till my arm got numb and legs were aking from standing on my toes with my arm in the air.. It all ended in tears and snot, when the CEO of the company in Norway, stood there all teary declaring it to be the best show ever! After we celebrated with a beer at Fiasco:)

Marilyn's armor bra

A little "secret" from the 50's, at least one that I didn't know of.. Cuz who would think that the sexy pinup chics of the 50's armed them selfs with four layered padded bras, with suspension bridge tecnology to enchance their curves and bring their breasts to new heights and volumes..?? Apparently long before silicon was the common substance to stuff your breasts with and maybe in the lack of having such a thing and tennis socks was last years.. This four padded bras known as a Fling was used among the burlesque artists, show girls, strippers and yes our beloved Marilyn Monroe and probably most of the pinups back then. Marilyn's "wonderbra" went on auction in England earlier this year and was expected to fetch a staggering 2,000 £!!

"Katie Halford, a designer of vintage lingerie firm What Katie Did, said Fling bras were worn by strippers and burlesque artists and were hardly seen today. She said: "These bras would have been invisible under clothing and ideal for wearing under halter-neck dresses, like the one she wore in the Seven Year Itch."

The Fling together with a corsette made Marilyn Monroes curves world famous till this day. But the stunning 37-23-36 didn't come without the technology of her times push in, push up and boosts and God knows what else. A bit dissapointing all in all, but Marilyn is still an icon to me and will allways be, four padded bras or not. This was not what made her special to me and I like to think to most of you people, it was her inner beauty that shone through. That's what true beauty is all about. You can add all the tecnology in the world and rearange your face as much as you want, but nothing will ever meassure up to it!

Something to chew on while you drink your morning coffee...

Dita Von Teese's teasingly, sexy lingerie collection <3

Get ready to party with Dita! The wonderful Dita Von Teese has created an other retro inspiered collection of lingerie together with Wonderbra; “Wonderbra "Party Edition" by Dita Von Teese*. The stunning, little peaces of Dita-art is available in stores these days:D The beatiful burlesque dancer has allready seduced both men and women around the globe with her sensual preformances for some time and the last collection of Dita lingerie got ripped of the shelves in no time. The lingerie she now has designed for Wonderbra is no exception. Seductive it is and the smoking hot pictures of Dita herself posing in her own creations is share candy for the eyes;) I can't wait to get my paws on these!

Like the last collection it is clearly inspired by the '40s and '50s, this time added a bit more color to the sexy collection. Like last time also some of the panties and bras have quick-release magnetic clasps so you can get them off quick and easy. Wonderbra promises that this detail will make “daring stripteases a cinch”... I would also think that it's going to be a much appreciated by the not so handy guys out there;) Goooooood bye to embarrasing, sweaty moments.. Or like Dita puts it:

“Lingerie shouldn’t be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you…It’s not about seducing men, it’s about embracing womanhood.”

“I love the idea of making everyday a party!”
