To the Islands

Last week we went on a small trip with Miss E, Kim and my sis, out to one of the islands, in the Oslo fjord. It's just a 10 minutes out with the boat, but it feels like being on the country side. So beautiful and peaceful, quite a contrast to the city! It was wonderful to escape the busy city life for a few hours:)

Same morning we also decided to take some photos for Devious Darlins', while out there. Seemed like a good idea, the perfect beautiful back drop for some photos of the Darlins'. Both Miss E and my sister are photographers, and good ones too. Miss E took most of the photos, while sis jumped in at the end;) Guess who got to model lol? We had lots of fun shooting them around the different type of nature we found on the island! Can't wait to see them!! Will share as soon as Miss E get them ready.

Midsummers Eve

The night is nothing more than a two hours dawn here at the moment. It never gets really dark these days.. The sky has a beautiful dusk blue color with brighter, bluish grey, cotton looking clouds gliding over it.

The 21.June was the lightest day of the year for us living in the nothern hemisphere. Today, 23. June we are celebrating Midsummers Eve, or Sankthans as we call it in Norway. It is an old tradition and celebration, that dates back to the viking times with offerings. In later times the church changed it into a Christian celebration, celebrating St John the Baptist.

In Norway we celebrate Midsummers eve with small and big bonfires, music, food and partying that lasts all through the night. That's if we get the next day off.. We're not as lucky as the swedish, where the day is a national holiday. Some places in Norway they even throw paper withces on the fire. In old days, they thought it would keep the withces and bad spirits away!

This year me and my love will be heading out to visit Miss Lindy Lee and her man. They're having a moving in party, as well as a Midummers Eve party. Crossing fingers for nice weather and no rain, so we can dance naked around the swedish Midsummer Pole and wear flowers in our hair;) All according to swedish traditions.. *Cough* ya, maybe not the naked part. Skip the naked thing, but we'll have flowers!

Friday Tune - Wish you Well

The Friday tune this time is from our "mini concert", on Miss E's balcony 17th of May.. Our good friend Kim singing and playing the gitar. Quite far from what we heard him singing last time, on the concert with Meanstreak. A wonderful, mellow song about lifes twists and turns, which goes straight to the heart!

I'm not sure what the name of the song is, I'm horrible with names.. But maybe you guys know?

17th of May - National Day of Norway

Our National Day was celebrated with good food, champagne, wine, beer and wonderful company, at Miss E's balcony!! It was an all dayer with gitar playing, chatting and fun! We rounded up the night at New Anarkali, an indian restaurant on Grünerløkka. Super yummi food and great service! Will definitely be back.

Ps: I don't know how to play the gitar, but I do know how to improvise;)



Burlesque Hairdo'

Lucky me got my hair styled for my Burlesque Birthday, by lovely Miss E! She's just finished the Adam & Eva hairdressers school and in need of hairmodels, a real win-win situation for both of us. She offered to do my hair burlesque style for the show the same evening, so said so done!

I spent all day on my birthday in the hairdresser chair. Chatting away with Miss E and the girls, reading magazines and drinking coffee. All while getting my hair cut, colored and beautifully styled at the end. As you can see by the photos, it was all held together with a hairnet and a thousand hairpins, at least. I think it turned out really lovely and was absolutely thrilled to have my hair done by someone! I love the old style to it and the hairnet:)

It was a really nice and relaxing way to spend my day, getting pampered and all. A real treat! Not every day I go get my hair styled by someone.. More like never! Haha Might be more often now, as Miss E needs to practice;)

I felt like a real diva on the tram, all the way back home! With my handmade, little black and white birdie fascinator, from my Birds Nest collection peeking out on the side. Looks rather comfortable up there, doesn't he? lol





Meanstreak

A peek at the concert with Meanstreak this Tuesday! I also added a video with the band that came after them, Paranoid Androida. Sorry to say I was standing quite far away on that one, so wasn't able to get the same quality on it as with Meanstreak..

Meanstreak Concert - Rock In

My days isn't solely about shop and brand making.. I rewarded my hard work with a night off and concert on Rock In, a metal club in down town Oslo. To see our friend Kim play with his band, Meanstreak! I pulled on my leather daisy dukes and T-shirt for a night with metal fun, beer and good friends;)

Concert was awsome!! Not what I usually go to see, or listen to at home. But music was great, bands were fab and met some new cool people:) Among them, the host from the burlesque show I went to on my birthday! Also had a great time with wonderful Miss E and friends!!



My Birthday Bash

I had a wonderful evening and celebration of my birthday at Midnight Burlesque, on Friday the 8th of April!! The show was amazing and so was the girls! The whole show was such an uplifting and feel good experience. Great humour, fantastic costumes and sexy ladies that came in all shapes and sizes. I don't think I've been laughing that much in a very long time!

It also made me think about how we girls are way too critical about our own apparance.. That we have to stop thinking we're not good enough, when we are beautiful just the way we are! We don't have to look a certain way. We are all born different, so why stribe to look the same? Or in some way that very few women on this planet look like naturally. Stop worrying about cellulites, dimples, too big this, too small that, wrong shape, too short or long or what ever.. I say live your life and be happy, either you're a small, medium or large. Always remember that you are beautiful and unique!

Besides isn't imperfect what makes us and life interesting? Just like the imperfect is way more perfect, than anything perfect can ever be..

Burlesque Birthday

Getting ready for my big day tomorrow!!  8. April, one year older and maybe a little wiser;) At first I wanted to get away for a fun weekend with my love. Later I found out that one of the biggest burlesque events of the year, is this weekend. Lets just say, I wasn't hard to convince.. I'm gathering the gals and guys for a festive, dress up evening with burlesque show, in skimpy burlesque outfits! I'm so excited and can't wait, will be so fun to see the costumes and of course the show:)

I'll be heading up to my Halloween, treasure chest this evening, to see if I can't find some goodies to wear for tomorrow night... Know I should have something there, that would fit perfect for my burlesqian night.. Something shiny, laced, black and feathery;)

Friday Night on The Whiskey Bar

We're having a relaxing Sunday in the nest,  nothing much going on today.. We're still recovering after our Friday night fun! After a long night out that started around 6 in the afternoon, we took Miss E and a friend home for late night/morning drinks and breakfast..

We invited friends and a few neighbours, for a night on The Whiskey Bar. A small, cozy bar in the old part of town, that we discovered after the Ghost tour last autumn. We've wanted to gather friends for a night out there ever since, we finally got around to do so!

Bonanza Friday

Weekend passed by quietly without any big things going on.. We were supposed to go to a house warming party on Saturday, but was absolutely too lazy to go anywhere! Since we were reduced to a couple of drooling sofa zombies, it felt like an easy choice to pull the blanket tight, put on some movies and stay home..

With that said, it might have been the amounts of beer on Friday that set the mood.. After some thrift shopping, we ended up on Bonanza with Miss S after work. A small, cozy, western bar in the old bazaar area down town. Full of big and small cowboy and western details, even in the toilet! I love the western style, and what a treat it was to sink down amoung western heroes, country artists on the walls and cowboy decor with a beer..

It was our first time there, can't believe we've missed out on this place! But I'm happy to say and even a bit surprised when it happends. Even if Oslo is a fairly small capitol, compared to the big capitols in the world and it's "my" town. There is still new places, small undiscovered gems among the familiar ones, that's just waiting to be discovered...

For those who might not know and is querios; Bonanza is a NBC produced TV-serie, that was aired for the first time in 1959. The serie is about the Cartwright family and their life on the ranch Panderosa, in the Lake Taho area:)

Sister's Toilet Soiré

Saturday we went to my sisters toilet soiré, to celebrate her new bathroom! Or the fact that she now has a bathroom at all!! Like us, she has been sharing it with her neighbour and friend next doors. It's one of these old wooden houses, which used to be one household in the old days, where the whole family lived all together. A "generation house" as we call it. With the grandma on the top floor and the old uncle in the appartment my sister lives in now.

When the uncle died and the grandma got to old to live alone, they decided to rent the appartments out. My sister was offered to rent one of them for a descent prize.. It's a lovely old appartment with an old cozy fireplace in the living room, old wooden floors and walls, with one of these old kitchens from before the 50's and many other lovely vintage details!

We made hot cheese sandwiches in the oven, ate Miss K's lovely cake, drank our beer and chit chatted the night away!! On the scary side, one of the guests turned into a real life cake zombie and munched down 4 slices, before anyone even noticed what was going on and managed to stop him.. It was only cream splatter and two berries left after the massacre, for the ones that hadn't even started on the cake yet.. Scary good cake in other words!!

Sunday was a superrelaxed day spent on my beloved sofa, with a pile of pillows surrounding me. Coffee, zapper, magazines, computer, chocolate, chips.. My man. Everything I needed within an arms stretch;)

Yaaaaaaaaaawn.. Those lazy Sundayzzzzz....
