Friday we had a house warming party at work, as we just moved to a new location.. The best part of the evening was the house band. As I soon discovered, we have some really good musicians at work! They rocked the roof off the office, like they've never done anything else. This is people that normally shuffle paper around their desk. Well, I guess it helps that they all play in a band in the spare time.. But it's not like they're living off it. It's wonderful to discover this creativity and get to know my colleagues in a different way than I usually see them. To see that there's allways new things to learn about people you thought you knew.. I'm not sure if it's me that needs to listen better, or maybe I didn't dig deep enough in the conversations. Spite of that we see each other every day and spend most of our awake time during a week at work. Some people even spend more time with their colleagues than their family, but when it boils down to it, how much do we really know about each other?
How well do you think you know your colleagues?
That is a really good question. I am constantly suprised when someone tells me they do "this" or "that" - I feel a bit ashamed to say "I had no idea!"
ReplyDeleteBut it happens to me too......"So your a Davis from the Davis Graveyard! I love that place!" :D
Cheers!
Good to hear it's not only me;) I feel I should know my colleagues, at least be able to scratch through some of the top layers.. And I'm also left a bit ashamed when I realize I haven't. Maybe we shouldn't feel so ashamed of it, but enjoy whatever new we discover! I guess it means we are getting to know them for real:)
